Bring in other employees to tell the company story from their perspective.

The story telling element of why new hires opted to join THIS organization is unique. Nice addition David!

I like to discuss current initiatives with new employees. This gets people excited about joining in on a new wave together. Of course when explaining the "why" behind the initiatives a brief history naturally flows as part of the conversation.

This reminds me of a parent of young children ("selective eaters") who purees vegetables into the sauce for macaroni and cheese. Providing the balanced content in a desired package.

Send the employees on a scavenger hunt in the company intranet. Give them clues and have them bring back key facts. Have each person share something they learned with the group.

Share biographies of the founders/key players and have learners create a timeline from that information.

Create an interactive timeline for learners to click through and explore major milestones in our history and how they have gotten us to where we are today. They can see when executive leaders joined the team, how we responded to significant moments in history, and how we have committed to innovation instead of relying on how it's "always been done."

Create an animation video, and take them through a tour of the heritage gallery for them to see, hear and feel the history.

At my previous company, our CEO took all new hires on a tour of the building. Throughout there were photos, most of them he took, and he had a very well orchestrated history lesson. Not just of the company but the technology. It was the highlight of every new hire orientation.
